
Department of Forensic Science
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Department of Forensic Science was established in the Academic year 2019-2020. The department offers a three year B.Sc., degree course. The department imparts quality education with hands on experience to fit in to the forensic department of government.. The need of trained man power in this area is on increase. We cater the needs of the government forensic department. The department has fully equipped with laboratories specifically for each specialization viz., Hematology unit, Toxicology unit, Microbiology unit, Finger print analysis unit and photography unit.

- To enable the students to reach the highest levels of intellectual achievement and personal growth
MISSION:
- The program outcomes will have a positive impact on the global forensic science and law enforcement communities and on society.
FACILITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT:
BIOLOGY UNIT:
In the biology unit, biologists are in charge of DNA profiling on dried blood stains and other body fluids.
DOCUMENT UNIT:
The unit is in charge of examining handwriting and typewriting on suspicious documents to determine the viability and source of the document.
TOXICOLOGY UNIT:
In the Toxicology unit, body fluids and organs are examined to determine the presence of drugs and poisons in an individual body’s.
PHOTOGRAPHY UNIT:
In this unit, there is a full record of all physical evidence from a crime. The evidence is also examined.
FINGERPRINT UNIT:
In this unit, fingerprint evidence is processed and examined.
CRIME INVESTIGATION UNIT:
In the crime sense investigation unit, collected crime scene evidences are preserved and to be processed later at the crime scene laboratories.
MODEL SAMPLES UNIT:
In this unit, the various biological and abiotic samples were collected and stored it as a model samples.

ILLUSTRATION ABOUT THE EVENT
The Department of Forensic science conducted an one day international seminar on ‘A Professor’s crime scene investigation experience’. Welcome is a traditional art. For this memorable event, convenor Ms.J.Shrine Gnana Treaza, Assistant professor, Dept. of Forensic science delivered the welcome address. Our honorable secretary Dr.N.Jegatheesan expressed the presidential address. Our respected moral guide Dr.R.Sevvel, principle introduced the guest speaker. Mr.T.Nataraja Moorthy, Professor of Forensic Science, Management and Science University (MSU), Malaysia who delivered the special address to this event and made this event as a meaningful one. Gratitude is a great attitude. The vote of thanks delivered by Ms.Fathima Sulthana, 3rd year B.Sc. Forensic science student. The on stage feedback was given by Mr.Abhijith and Ms.Angel who all are 3rd year B.Sc. Forensic Science students. The master of ceremony for this event was Mr.Sree Hari, 3rd year B.Sc. Forensic Science student. And, the prayer song and national anthem was sung by 2nd year B.Sc. Forensic Science students. The program was successfully coordinated by forensic science and chemistry department faculty members and students.
